Harry Gill has received the endorsement of retiring Circuit Court Judge William J. Caprathe as his replacement in the election to be held on November 2, 2010.

"Bay County will be in good hands with Harry Gill as Circuit Judge," Caprathe said. "I recommend him as my replacement with great enthusiasm."

Gill has already been endorsed by Bay County Circuit Court Judge Joseph Sheeran and Bay County Probate Judge Karen Tighe, as well as Midland County Probate Judge Dorene S. Allen. Others who have already endorsed Gill's candidacy include Bay County Sheriff John E. Miller, the Tri-County Building and Construction Trades Council, and the Greater Bay Area Central Labor Council.

Judge Caprathe's support for his election as Circuit Court Judge is an honor that he is proud to accept, Gill said.

"I am very grateful for Judge Caprathe's enthusiastic support. He has served Bay County with the utmost integrity, dignity and professionalism for 30 years," Gill said. "I pledge that if I am elected, I will devote all of my effort and experience to continuing Judge Caprathe's legacy as one of our county's most respected jurists."

In announcing his support for Gill's election, Sheriff Miller touted Gill as "by far the most qualified for Judge in the 18th Circuit Court. Harry's concern for public safety is of tremendous importance and makes him the best choice to serve the citizens of our county."

Tri-County Building and Construction Trades Council President William Borch Jr. cited Gill's "impeccable back ground and exemplary work ethic" as among the factors for their organization's endorsement of his candidacy.

"Gill has a long history of demonstrating his understanding and commitment to Bay County's hard working families and the most vulnerable residents of our community," Borch Jr. said. "He represents all factions of Bay County and that is only one of many reasons the Tri-County Building Trades are endorsing him for Circuit Court Judge."

The support of some of Bay County's leading labor unions reflects his belief that organized labor is essential to the maintenance of our middle class, Gill said.

" I have always had the greatest respect for working people and I have long recognized the importance of the role organized labor has had in making it possible for millions of people to earn a dignified living," he added.

Gill has practiced law in Bay City for over 33 years and is a partner in the law firm Kennedy Gill and Ball. Gill grew up in Bay City and attended All Saints High School as well as Delta College. He graduated Cum Laude from Western Michigan University. Gill obtained his law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1976 ranking 7th in his class. Gill has served as President of the Bay County Bar Association and as a member of the Michigan State Bar Committee on Professional ethics. Gill is a former Trustee of the Bay City Public Schools and former President of the Parish Council at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church.

The Committee to Elect Harry Gill Circuit Judge will hold it's kickoff campaign fundraiser on Wednesday June 16, 2010 at Tommy V's at 312 E. Midland Street, Bay City between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.. Admission is $20 but greater amounts will be accepted gratefully.
