Midland Street Big House -- For Sale
Ever have a hankering to own a sports bar?
How about an entire entertainment complex complete with large dining room, martini bar, gambling arcade, brew pub and all the crowd-pleasing facilities?
Here's your chance!
Bay City's leading entrepreneur Art Dore, the guy who has an idea a minute, is putting the two places on Midland Street in Bay City's entertainment center up for sale.
Interviewed at BARTS, Mr. Dore (Pictured at Right) said: "I'm 74 years old and in order to run this place properly I have to be here all the time. It's just time to get out."
He said there are 17 bars in the Midland Street area and a group of the owners of businesses is working on various promotions to increase business. Beth Dore, of Duso's, is among those working on the project, that may include a historical tour of the West Side.
You can be in business immediately with the Big House (now operating under the name Brady's Sports Bar) for just $485,000.
Mr. Dore already owns the Hooters at the foot of Midland on the river, a hot spot for local wings, beer and fun, another Hooters on West Side Saginaw Road in Saginaw, one in Traverse City and one in Port Huron.
The Big House, where the charity casino gambling concept began in Bay County, and the Hen House Restaurant, have great potential, according to the sales material posted online by
MichiganRestaurantBroker.com for Griffin Restaurant Group, Southfield.
BARTS, a name just beginning to take on a brand identity, gets a spiffy promotion from Michigan Restaurant Broker web site:
"Here is your opportunity to own an entertainment complex right in the heart of Bay City. BARTS offers approximately 32,000 square feet including a two room Banquet Facility/Arcade/Restaurants/Tap Room Brewery/Stables Martini Bar. Asking price is $2,300,000."

It'll be interesting to see if anyone steps forward with a big idea for the place. The Stables is on solid footing, but for that restaurant to work, a clear investment in the appearance, quality of service, and overall atmosphere is needed.
$2.3 mil seems a bit high, but I'm sure Mr. Dore is listening to any offer...

I think that Josh & Shawn are doing a good job with Brady's & The Big House...it's a shame to see that up for sale. Hopefully an investor can come in and save it for them!
