The Frankenmuth Farmers Market is proud to introduce an additional, weekday Farmers Market that began on July 21, 2010 running Wednesdays from 4pm to 7pm through the prime of the harvest season into September.

The added weekday Market will take place near Frankenmuth Credit Union, off Koester Drive and M-83 at the northern end of Frankenmuth. The Frankenmuth Farmers Market will continue hosting its regular 8am-2pm Saturday Market in Downtown Frankenmuth adjacent to the Harvest Coffeehouse near Cass and Main Street through October 16, 2010.

"The overwhelming success of the World's First Drive-Thru Farmers Market that we hosted last August illustrated the tremendous demand for a weekday Market. Now, consumers can meet and support their growers twice a week to stock up with even-fresher local produce instead of waiting a full week between Markets," reports Market Mistress Laurajeanne Kehn.

"Fresh produce this good doesn't conveniently wait to ripen until Market day-it ripens every day of the week! The weekday Market will provide area farmers an outlet to supply more of their sensational food at its ripest peak of perfection," adds Market President Dietrich Bronner, who also chairs the board of directors for the state-wide Michigan Farmers Market Association. "For those who are typically out of town for the weekend and miss the Saturday Market, the Wednesday Market will offer the opportunity to taste what they've been missing. The afternoon hours will allow consumers to stop in and stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables on their way home from work, while continuing to build community-the hallmark of the Frankenmuth Farmers Market."

The warm spring and recent, favorable weather conditions have provided a flood of fresh produce for the Market's sixth season. The recently passed Michigan Cottage Food Bill is also expected to bring a bounty of new products and producers to the Market. Working through the Michigan Farmers Market Association, Market Mistress Laurajeanne Kehn helped craft the Cottage Food Bill and witnessed Governor Granholm sign it into law while meeting with her Monday, July 12, 2010.

Named one of ten "must see" markets in Michigan by Michigan Travel Ideas magazine, the Frankenmuth Farmers Market hosts monthly food drives for Hidden Harvest the third Saturday of each month, offers weekly email newsletters (email dbronner@chartermi.net), and is planning special events for the upcoming months. The Frankenmuth Credit Union sponsors music at the Market, and upcoming events can be found at www.frankenmuthfarmersmarket.org.
