If you have read any of these articles, by now you know heart disease is this country's No.1 killer.
Another point your probably know is you have the power to reduce your risk. Simply by exercising for as little as 30 minutes each day you can reduce your chances of developing cardiovascular diseases. That's what the American Heart Association's Start! Movement is all about: Walk more. Eat better. Live a longer, healthier life. It's a simple premise.
Because Americans have become more sedentary, our waistbands are growing. So are our healthcare costs and the number of preventable illnesses. But you can help prevent those diseases simply by walking. Research has shown that you can gain about two hours of life for every hour of regular vigorous exercise you do. You couldn't find a better two-for-one deal if you tried!
Countless people across the country are joining the Start! movement. Visit www.startwalkingnow.org to find great tools that will help you get walking. You'll find your "sole" mates, tracking systems, online support, and a great community of friends. Get walking and start taking a more active role in your health today!
