Runners and walkers heated up Saturday's Labadie Pig Gig events with a 5k race. The Catholic Federal Credit Union 5K race was one of the premier events for this year's Labadie Pig Gig presented by State Farm.

The Catholic Federal 5K race began at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, temperatures in around at 70 degrees.

Proceeds from the race benefit the Toni and Trish House. Trained volunteers at the Toni and Trish House offer shelter, meals, and personal care for the guest and their family. The house is here to support and serve as a resource for understanding palliative end of life care.

Ann Gasta, Race Director, said, "I was very pleased with the turn out, each year are numbers are rising." Gasta continued, "We changed the course this year, but still plan to work on it for next year, making the start and finish line at the same place." The Runners Love that the race route takes them over both bridges."

Gasta added, "I do encourage everyone to register early, that way you don't have to wait in line day of race to register."

Overall Male 1st place went to 21 yr. old Nathan Bussiere, from Connecticut with a time of 15:21.09. Bussiere is an intern at Dow Corning and is currently residing in Saginaw.
