On a night full of homecoming pageantry, it was the ground attack of both Arthur Hill and Central that garnered all the attention. With both teams combining for 910 yards in rushing alone, exciting long runs were plentiful all night. A seven touchdown barrage in the third quarter kept the Engel Stadium crowd rocking as the Hill pulled out to a 48-34 lead. The Wolves closed the gap to a touchdown early in the fourth quarter but only momentarily as the Lumberjacks struck for a 60 yard touchdown run on their first play from scrimmage to all but seal the game as they "ran" to a 61-41 win.

The game started well for Central as running back Darion Lopez took the first play from scrimmage around right end and streaked down the sidelines for a 67 yard score. With the kick, the Wolves were ahead 7-0.

Arthur Hill responded with a touchdown drive. Matthew Williams burst through the line for a 29 yard run and the two teams were off to the races. The failed extra point kept the Wolves with a 7-6 advantage.

Lopez quickly added to the lead as he followed his blockers through another nice hole and raced 43 yards to put Central up 14-6. But the lead was short lived as the Lumberjacks responded by driving the ball down field. Chandler Young powered the ball in from the one yard line and with a two point conversion; the first quarter came to a close with the two teams tied at 14 all.

The game settled down scoring wise in the second quarter as the two teams slugged it out. The Hill scored the quarter's only touchdown when Young galloped 47 yards putting the Lumberjacks up 20-14 at the half.

A packed homecoming crowd at Engel Stadium enjoyed the excitement of the evening.

The third quarter saw a wide up game as the two teams combined for 48 points. Arthur Hill took the kickoff and drove down the field and Lydell Simon punched it in from 8 yards out for the score and a 26-14 lead. The Hill extended their lead 24 seconds later. Following a turnover, Young found Marques Goodwine` for an 18 yard touchdown pass and with the two point conversion; the Lumberjacks looked to be in control 34-14.

Central showed the homecoming crowd they weren't about to give up. The Wolves quickly responded by driving the ball downfield and Lopez ran it in from 24 yards out to narrow the margin to 34-20. But what would a game like this be without a kickoff return. The Hills Roland Rance received the following kickoff on the 20 and, finding a seam, raced 80 yards to expand the lead to 41-20.

The fireworks weren't over yet. Central's Cameron Sullivan popped through the line for a 19 yard score. When Central got the ball back, they struck again on a Lopez's fourth touchdown of the game, a 4 yard run narrowing the margin to 41-34.

The rushing stampede continued when Arthur Hill received the ball. The quarter ended in fitting fashion with a touchdown run. Having moved the ball just over midfield, Lydell Simon broke loose for 44 yards and the Lumberjacks were back up 48-34.

Central opened the fourth quarter with a ball control drive. The Wolves marched 80 yards in 13 plays with quarterback Brennen Gohr running 15 yards to bring the Wolves within 7 points at 48-41.

The comeback hopes were soon dashed. The Hill's Young took the first snap from scrimmage and raced 60 yards for a quick strike and the Lumberjacks were back on top, 54-41. A fumble on Central's next possession was recovered by the Hill stopping any thoughts of a responding score. Young finished off all scoring by scoring from the 10 making the final 61-41 Arthur Hill.

Seeming lost in all the scoring was a record setting performance by Central's Darion Lopez. The senior running back scorched the Lumberjacks for 300 yards on 27 carries and four touchdowns. Teammate Cameron Sullivan added 71 yards and one score on 10 carries.

Quarterback Chandler Young led the Arthur Hill attack with a 200 yard rushing performance of is own. He also added 107 yards through the air for one passing touchdown and 4 rushing touchdowns. Running back Lydell Simon added 99 yards rushing.

Central's final two games are on the road as next Friday they travel to Midland to take on the Dow Chemics. The season finally is at Western as the Wolves face the Warriors for Bay County bragging rights.
