  • 1 in 4 children will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday;

  • Every 10 seconds in this country, there is a report of suspected child abuse and neglect

  • In 2009, there were over 5,000 reported incidents of child abuse in Saginaw County

  • According to Prevent Child Abuse America, 90% of the time, a child knows their abuser as a family member, friend or caregiver

  • Children are at the greatest risk for abuse and neglect during three times in their lives: the crying period (0-3 years of age); potty training (2-4 years of age) and when their report card comes home.

  • Children do NOT lie about sexual abuse.

  • In the CAN Council's Children's Advocacy Center, we interview annually 450-600 children as victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse or witnesses to violence

  • In the CAN Council's Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program, in 2009, we advocated for 165 of the over 350 children living in foster care due to abuse and neglect

    This free business networking event is called Networking is for Neanderthals®, led by Shawne Duperon of ShawneTV, a child-abuse survivor. Shawne's turned her childhood tragedy into her business passion: She teaches people how to powerfully networking beyond any obstacle.

    Her mantra is "New perceptions can alter your destiny."

    For example, when you think Neanderthals, you usually visualize a ham-fisted caveman dragging a woman by her hair, right? That's simply not the case.

    Neanderthals were strong team builders and collaborators. Whether you're at a networking event, posting on Facebook or Twitter, Shawne's workshop is about building networks, relationships and collaborations in business, at home and at schools, and finding joint ways to give back to the community.

    Networking is primal. It's biological. We need it. We crave it. And most of us don't do it well. In this FREE half day workshop, held in several cities in the US and Canada, you will step into a new realm of possibility.

    Whether you're a seasoned networking pro or brand spanking new, Six-Time EMMY® winner Shawne Duperon will radically transform your existing notions of networking. You will never see or "do" networking the same again.
