Having previously beaten All Saints by more than 20 points, the Lady Bobcats may have taken the Cougars of All Saints a little too lightly.

What they got was a Cougar by the tail as All Saints took a first quarter lead, stumbled in the second and came back in the fourth quarter to take the lead. But two clutch shots by junior Kristen Moore, a three pointer to send the game into overtime and a game winner, helped the Lady Bobcats escape with a 38-37 non-conference win.

All Saints entered the first quarter very focused and determined. Using a tight and quick reacting defense, they kept John Glenn from getting the ball in low to Brianna Sahr. Their efforts shut down the paint holding Glenn to 7 first quarter points. Offensively, the Lady Cougars were quick to pass the ball on the perimeter. Glenn was slow to respond allowing the Cougars to find open players down low for a pass and a quick shot. With shots falling, the Cougars built an early lead before Glenn clawed their way back narrowing the margin to 10-7 by the end of the first quarter.

John Glenn entered the second quarter increasing their defensive pressure. Perimeter wise, they put more pressure on the ball and cut off the inside passes. As a result, Glenn was able to hold the Cougars to just four second quarter points. This allowed the Lady Bobcats to continue to chip away at the lead. However, All Saints tenacity at defense kept Glenn from dialing in their offense and building a big lead. This kept the game close as John Glenn held a 17-14 halftime lead.

Even with the increase in defensive pressure, it was clear the Bobcats needed a spark. John Glenn's coach, Cory Snyder, wasted no time in the locker room as he had his players back onto the court running shooting drills to put a charge in their game. The strategy appeared to work as the Lady Bobcats started the third quarter on fire. Playing with passion and focus, they quickly built a solid lead and appeared poised to run away with the game. Like a campfire made of pine needles and sticks, the fire soon faded as All Saints kept coming back. The Cougar tenacity and desire helped them chip away at the lead before tying the game with 27 seconds left in the third period. Then Erin Caspers hit a long range jumper with four seconds left to send John Glenn into the fourth quarter with a 29-27 lead.

All Saints kept the momentum in the fourth quarter. Building a 34-31 lead, they went into an aggressive stall; one which they pass the ball around and if a clear opening occurs they attack the basket, otherwise they are content to control the ball. The strategy appeared to be working until All Saints threw the ball away. With just under a minute to play, Glenn moved the ball up court when they found Kristen Moore open. Moore received the pass and immediately set and shot a three pointer finding nothing but net to tie the score.

All Saints had their chance to win the game when a foul offered two free throw attempts. But the shots failed to drop giving Glenn the ball back with 21 seconds left in regulation time. The Bobcats moved up the floor and called timeout. After the inbound pass, they were unable to set up for a shot and we were in overtime.

All Saints took the lead in overtime when Marisa Ramirez scored from the outside. John Glenn moved the ball down eventually finding Brianna Sahr for the tying bucket. After All Saints failed on their possession, Glenn moved the ball looking for Sahr again. As t he Bobcats got off a shot, Kristen Moore had worked herself in for good rebounding position. She grabbed the missed shot and immediately put it up and in for what was to be the winning basket.

All Saints got a break when Megan Marvin was fouled. The junior sunk one of two shots narrowing the margin to one. The Cougars got one final break when Glenn committed a turnover. But the resulting shot bounced off the rim as time expired giving John Glenn a tight come from behind victory.

Brianna Sahr led all scorers with 13 points. Amber Kipfmiller and Tori Napora each added six points for the Bobcats.

All Saints was led by Michelle Kleinau and Brandi Hartson who both scored 8 points.
