The game held a significant meaning as All Saints took the court poised to capture at least a share of their first league title. But for the Cougars, it was just another tough game to be played against an always tough USA team. After building a ten point first quarter lead, they saw it slip away in the second quarter. Then Drew Janer and Nate Sobczak combined to power the Cougars to a 64-51 win.

Both teams started tight as they committed several turnovers to start the game. All Saints caught fire and their quick passing perimeter offense got open looks that found the bottom of the net. On defense, they kept tight pressure not letting USA get good looks at the basket. This allowed the Cougars to build a 15-5 first quarter lead.

Just as they looked to run away with the game early, All Saints shooting went cold as shots rattled in and out of the basket. This allowed the Patriots to chip away at the lead and muscle their way back into the contest. With some confidence and a late burst, USA seemingly held a one point lead as time expired in the first half. But Drew Janer was fouled as he shot and when he calmly sank both free throws, All Saints held a 25-24 halftime lead.

USA came out determined to work inside to 6'6" senior Jake Holland. After Holland knocked down three quick baskets, the Saints adjusted to take away that inside pass and shut down the Patriot offense. Meanwhile, as cold as they were in the second quarter, All Saints got red hot. Using a combination of three point shots, two by Drew Janer and one by Garrett Bowker, and adding the "not to be denied" physical play of Nate Sobczak, All Saints took over the third quarter out scoring USA by seven to build a 43-35 lead.

Janer continued his red hot shooting as he started off the fourth quarter with two long three?s then followed them up with two more baskets. While Janer was firing from the outside, Nate Sobczak continued scrapping on the inside and turning loose balls into points as he added 7 in the quarter. And while this tandem was accounting for 19 of the Cougars 21 fourth quarter points, the team defense hounded the Patriots keeping them from making a comeback of their own. Only some late game threes kept the Patriots close as All Saints clinch at least a share of their first conference crown with a 64-51 win.

Drew Janer led all scorers with 22 points with Nate Sobczak adding 16 and Garrett Bowker scoring 10.

USA was led by Jake Holland as he knocked down 17 points while Kyle Comer and Andrew Botello added 9 apiece.
