When you are in a rebuilding mode of a program, often wins are hard to come by. Such was the case Tuesday night when Garber hosted division rival Caro in a boy's basketball contest. Garber had a strong first half building an eight point lead. After giving up that lead in the third quarter, the Dukes built a six point lead with a minute to play. Consecutive three pointers by Caro sent the game into overtime where Caro shinned from the free throw line to earn a 73-67 win.

Garber started the game using a full court press to ware down Caro and establish a 7-0 early lead. Caro countered with a press of their own receiving similar results as they quickly climbed back into the contest tying the score at 8-8. Garber then re-established the lead going inside ending the period at 13-10.

Playing with only 7 players, Caro began to wear down the in the second quarter under the constant pressure of the Duke defense. Using the full court press and constantly swarming the basketball, Garber kept a scoring edge on Caro. Adding an aggressive play on the basket, the Dukes led at halftime 33-25.

Halftime was just what the doctor order for Caro. With energized legs, Caro came out controlling the third quarter. It seemed like the tale of two teams; one was a story of almost every shot dropping for Caro while Garber balls continually went in and out of the basket. By quarter's end, Caro and taken a 46-43 lead.

During the break, Garber Coach Devon Gilliam noted his team had been out hustled and challenged his boys to get it back. And get it back they did as Garber responded by taking back the game and building a six point lead with around a minute to play. But fate seemed against the Dukes as three point artist Tim Curtis got himself free to drain a three from atop the circle. As the Dukes blanketed Curtis and forced an off balance three attempt with seconds remaining, Curtis got free as the Dukes went for the rebound. Caro grabbed the ball, threw it out to him and bang, we are in overtime as he nail his second straight three.

Caro took the momentum into overtime moving out in front forcing Garber to foul as Caro used ball control to eat up the clock. Then Caro knocked down 7 of 10 attempts to come away with a 73-67 win.

Caro used a balanced scoring effort as Tim Curtis and Jake Settleberg each scored 18 points. Brant Miller knocked down 14 while Caleb Sunblad added 13.

Garber was led by Jon Nuenke. The junior guard scored 26 points while Alex Grills added 9 and Nick Whitney scored 8.
