John Glenn and Garber squared off in district semi-finals Wednesday night. While Garber jumped out to a first quarter lead, strong defense and team commitment to offense helped gave the Lady Bobcats a big third quarter as they cruised to a 36-23 district semi-final win.

Garber jumped out to an early first quarter lead. The Lady Dukes were determined to get helping defense on Glenn's top scorer, Brianna Sahr forcing the ball into her teammates hands. The strategy paid early dividends as Garber kept pressure on Sahr and pushed the ball up court for open shots as they forged a 10-5 first quarter lead.

The second quarter was a slow quarter for both teams. Garber moved the ball around the perimeter looking for open shots or better yet, avenues into the basket. The Lady Bobcats shut off the passing lanes forcing the excess passing which turned into turnovers. Offensively, the touch Garber defense kept Brianna Sahr from getting on track. The senior forward was able to find the basket as John Glenn outscored Garber 7-4 to pull within two points at halftime, 14-12.

John Glenn picked up their game in the third quarter as they turned to an aggressive full court press. The energy created by their defensive pressure turned into offensive production. With the team more involved in the offensive movement, Sahr was able to get up for better looks at the basket. As a result she found her scoring touch as she scored 11 of the teams 15 points in the quarter. Adding to a swarming team defense that kept Garber to only 5 later quarter points, the Bobcats entered the final quarter with a 27-19 lead.

John Glenn kept the defensive pressure on as they continued to shut down the Garber offense holding the Lady Dukes to four fourth quarter points. On the offensive side, the Lady Bobcats controlled the ball content to take time off the clock ensuring their place in the district finals with a 36-23 win.

On the night, Brianna Sahr led the Bobcats and all scorers with 25 points. Janessa Urban led Garber with 11 points.
