Wicking . . . is it wrong ???

About a year ago I became aware of a segment by John Brenkus on Sports Science about a certain type of apparel called X-Bionic. After learning of this and their study on wicking, I stopped buying wicking apparel unless just for fashion but I certainly will not wear it when I am in a race or competition.

Wicking is what happens with workout apparel that pulls sweat away from your body. Although it 'looks' cool, it is anything but cool according to the Sports Science segment. (See YouTube video below).

Anybody knows that when your body reaches a certain degree, that, is when your body kicks in as a recovery mode, by your self cooling system (sweating). So why would you want to pull that away from your body.

When you have that material pulling sweat away from your body, then your body has to go into overtime and use MORE energy to try to 'cool' your body down. Hence taking away energy that could be used on your performance.

According to the video below, X-Bionic wear will hold the moisture to your body and also the material has micro ducts that pull the heat away from your body. And or vice versa when your body is cold.

Below is a YouTube video from the Sports Science segment showing the difference using X-Bionic apparel which will actually take the sweat and help turn it into energy opposed to taking more energy away from you using other wicking type sports apparel.
