The Irish Comedy Tour, May 21, 2011 Bay City State Theater

For the first time in its seven-year history the Friends of Celtic Culture, a Great Lakes Bay Region non-profit organization dedicated to the arts and music of the Seven Celtic Nations, is bringing a comedy show to the State Theatre in Bay City, Michigan.

The Irish Comedy Tour will be appearing at the State, 913 Washington Avenue, 989-892-2660 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011. Doors open at 6:30 with adult humor and beverages available. $20 tickets can also be ordered at friendsofcelticculture.org, or at the door the night of the show.

The Irish Comedy Tour takes the party atmosphere of a Dublin pub and combines it with a boisterous, belly- laugh trio. The clover "make that clever" comedians, whose ancestors hail from the Emerald Isle, include Detroit native Derek Richards, Boston-born Joey Carroll, and Dublin-born Keith Aherne.

Audiences howl at Derek Richards' tales about his mom's dog, the holidays, and dating a stripper. He has appeared on The Bob and Tom Show, XM and Sirius satellite radio, and The Weather Channel's Top Ten.

Joey Carroll has been delivering clean, thought provoking comedy for over twenty years. He is often described as a cross between Denis Leary and Lewis Black. When not in the States, Carroll often heads overseas to perform for our troops serving in the Middle East. He has also been on Comedy Central's Pulp Comics.

Keith Aherne has performed with many of his home country's acts, including comedian Brendan Grace and the folk group Dublin City Ramblers. He will also add authentic Irish music to the show. The irreverent trio, which released a DVD titled Dublin - Over, has performed across the country, including the City Opera House in Traverse City, Mi., the Hanover Theatre in Worcester, Mass., and the Palace Station in Vegas.

The Irish Comedy Tour, they're Irish, they're American, and they're not holding back!
