The Bijou Orchestra "spooked" Bay City audiences with two performances at the historic State Theater on Halloween afternoon. To the delight of kids of all ages, the 13 piece orchestra dressed in costume for the performance and had a rocking good time.

Following the opening number, "In the Hall of the Mountain King" by Edward Grieg, the "Monster of Ceremonies" Rob (Dracula) Clark appeared to introduce the numbers, sing, and lead the audience in a rousing rendition of "The 12 Days of Halloween"... ("On the first day of Halloween my true love gave to me, An Owl in a dead tree". Members of the audience were "volunteered" to come forward to sing each of the 10 days while the audience sang "on the fifth day of Halloween my true love gave to me, FIVE SKEL-E-TONS".

Part way through the concert, Dracula insisted that the "Mousetro" take a "request", none other than "The Monster Mash". Explaining that the Bijou is a professional orchestra, Mousetro Najar insisted that he would require study before attempting such an unscheduled piece. Dracula easily resolved the situation by telling the orchestra to "take 5" while he took the Mousetro backstate to teach him the number. In the meantime the audience was treated to a short magic show by Virgil McDonagh, "Man of Mystery" who was assisted by his granddaughter and by young members of the audience.

As the Man of Mystery finished his performance, Dracula and the Mousetro returned to the stage prepared to do the "Monster Mash". Accompanied by keyboard, sax, and drums, Dracula sang the song as the rest of the orchestra, lead by Mousetro Najar, danced the Monster Mash.

The musical program was a mix of classical themes and fun numbers including "The Addams Family" theme, also sung by Rob (Dracula) Clark. The conculding number was, according to Mousetro Najar, the most freightening piece... for the orchestra. The thirteen member ensemble accepted the challenge of playing "The Ride of the Valkyries" by Richard Wagner, a piece written for an orchestra of over a hundred musicians! As the entire audience would agree, the Bijou was entirely up to the challenge and delivered a perfect climax to a great performance!
