Cornfest means fun for everyone.

Welcome to Auburn!

What does corn have to do with summertime in July other than just being tied to a familiar saying and the farmer's creed we have all heard for years?

"Knee high by 4th of July". . .

It means it's time for Auburn, MI to roll out the welcome mat for festival-loving folks for their annual Auburn Cornfest!

Not only was the corn plentiful (1400 lbs were shipped in from Georgia to feed the crowds) so was the sunshine. The weather couldn't have been more cooperative and grateful attendees enjoyed a perfect 4-day summer festival.

The Cornfest, in it's 41st year, is a yearly fundraising event of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce and the Auburn Jaycees. 100% of the proceeds are donated back to the community and many local groups benefit from this annual event.

There was something for everyone and for all ages to enjoy at the Cornfest. Some of this year's attractions included: Rides, entertainment tent, corn-eating contest, food vendors, softball tournaments, quad races, merchants row, fireworks and oh, and did we mention . . . CORN?

Fun Awaits on the Midway

Carla Wallenda balances on the sway pole 110 feet in
the air to the delight of spectators.

One of the popular midway shows, back for her 2nd year in Auburn, was the death-defying, sway pole act performed by 7th generation Wallenda, Carla Wallenda. The 75 year old, great-grandmother, has been at it since age 3 and works with no safety net and no harness.

Even the dogs had fun this weekend at the agility course provided by 'The Classic K-9 Show" and
Executive Producer, Ken Scharnegie. The outfit hails from Mt. Morris, MI and worked
with local dog trainers, Kaybee's K-9's, at the Auburn fest.

Julie, Clarissa and Andy Gielda, ready to help cool you off!

When it was time too cool off from the hot midway sun, Blizzard Ice, a local fundraising business,
were there to help with flavored refreshing, shaved ice drinks. "This weekend's mission is to raise funds for
the Bay City Western Girls Bowling Team" said Andy Gielda, Owner.

Logan and Kyle, Out for some afternoon fun!
With all the fun things to choose to do at this year's event,
at the end of the day, some still came for a time honored custom -- "To Meet Girls". . . .
