Tri City Icehawks proudly announced the appointment of NHL veteran, Jason Dawe as Scout for the Icehawks. While some of his duties will be scouting and evaluating talent for the Icehawks and Coach Stirling Wright, his considerable experience and skill development expertise will be utilized on ice as well.

Coach Dawe recently participated in last weekend's tryout camp which consisted of all signed players and those looking to crack the roster. He ran the morning sessions emphasizing skating, puck handling and defensive skills while concentrating on evaluating the present talent in the afternoon sessions.

Jason Dawe was drafted 35th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. He played for the Sabres five years with such notable star as Dominic Hasek. Dawe went on to play parts of four more years for the New York Islanders as well as the Montreal Canadians and the New York Rangers.

Jason Dawe worked his way through the minor league ranks as he starred for the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League were he tallied 337 points in 241 games and was part of the Pete's Memorial Cup finalist team in 1993. Dawe was also part of the 1993 Gold Medal winning Canadian Team in the World Junior Championships.

As a NHL player, Dawe enjoyed his finest season in 1995-96 when he tallied 25 goals in 67 games for the Sabres.

But NHL and minor league playing experience is not the only attribute that Dawe brings to the Icehawks. He is part owner of a successful hockey skills camp as well as having coaching experience, most notably for the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL, an affiliate of the New York Rangers as well as youth hockey programs. Coach Wright noted that Dawe will help with practices and he hopes to be able to lure him behind the bench.

Coach Dawe currently lives with his wife in Buffalo where they met while he was playing for the Sabres.
