(Open Letter to Bay City Music Fans From the Bay Arts Council's Wednesday in the Park Event)
On behalf of the Bay Arts Council and the Board of Trustees, I would like to extend a sincere thank-you to a great many people, corporations and organizations for the success of the 2011 season of Wednesdays in the Park. This was the first year in almost two decades that we offered the concerts free to everyone, and the community rallied around this and attended in full force. We had almost 13,000 people attend the seven free concerts this summer. With community support, we will continue to offer these concerts free in 2012!
I would like to thank the sponsors, without their financial support, this would not have been possible. I would like to thank the volunteers, dedicated and always willing to help out. I would like to thank the attendees who donated during the concerts, you were very generous. I would like to thank our Bay Arts Council individual members, again, your financial support is what enables us to put on quality programming. Finally, I would like to thank all the groups that volunteered to be our talent for the warm-up acts. High school students all the way up to retirees gave their time and talents and the audience loved each and every group.
I hope everyone was able to attend at least one concert. It was truly an exciting time in Wenonah Park. Food vendors, artists and street musicians were able to come and showcase their talents. The Bay Arts Council is here to promote the visual and performing arts in the Great Lakes Bay Region. We have a great city, and when others visit, they will see what we have known for years, Bay City is a fantastic community with something for everyone!
Thank you again to everyone who made Wednesdays in the Park 2011 a great one!
