Wheels 104.5 presents Comedy Night at the State Theater

Wheels 104.5 presents Comedy Night featuring Auggie Smith & Ralph Harris at the State Theater in Bay City on Friday, October 7, 2011 at 7:00 PM

At the age of 19, Auggie Smith moved from Billings, Montana to Portland, Oregon to pursue a career in stand up comedy. After a few years of toil and struggle, he first achieved acclaim by winning the 1994 Sam Adams Comedy Contest, who's prizes earned him his first national exposure on the television show Evening At the Improv.

Auggie truly found his comedy voice in 1997, when he placed second in the Seattle Comedy Competition to legendary comic Mitch Hedberg. This earned him an invitation to the 1998 Montreal Comedy Festival, where he performed a remarkable 12 shows, including New Faces, Danger Zone and The Nasty Show.

Keeping a continuous road schedule of clubs across the nation, Auggie introduced himself to a new legion of fans in January of 2004, with a now legendary appearance on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show. The morning was a mix of signature rants and brilliant improv highlighting his sharp point-of-view.

His outstanding debut has become one their most replayed treasures. This led to performing in theaters across the country on the very popular Bob & Tom Comedy Tour, where audiences quickly became aware that the only thing better then listening to Auggie on the radio was sharing the energy he creates in his live performance.

In 2006, Auggie shot national TV performances for Comedy Central?s Bob & Tom All Stars, and Live at Gotham, where he was put in the honored status of headlining the first episode. In 2007, Auggie made a brief but very memorable appearance on Last Comic Standing.

In 2008, Auggie was invited to perform at the Rooftop Aspen Comedy Festival, where he was voted Club Comic of the Year by club owners. Auggie is the star of his own CD and DVD titled Cult Following. His comedy rants are on heavy rotation on both XM and Sirius satellite radio, and can be seen on several popular Youtube videos, but none of these compare with seeing his live performance.

When Auggie takes the stage, audiences across the country quickly realize that they're in for an evening of riveting, take-no-prisoners stand-up comedy. During Auggie's set, pop culture and political targets are dissected piece by piece into intelligently written manic rants. His seamless rapid fire style has developed a loyal following across the country. He has spent most of the last two decades keeping a constant road schedule honing his craft and creating a truly memorable, relevant, and constantly evolving live experience.

Ralph Harris is one of today's hottest comedic and acting talents! He made his feature film debut in DREAMGIRLS, a film that has struck gold (of the Golden Globe variety). Ralph kicks off the movie as the Detroit MC that helps Jamie Foxx hook up with the Dreamettes. Ralph recalls with special fondness the nearly fifty takes needed to perfect his character's 'gentle caress' of Beyonce Knowles' well-known bootylicious behind. But really, who's counting?

Not one to slow down, Ralph has continued his film career momentum, immediately landing his second feature role in the film EVAN ALMIGHTY starring Steve Carell and Wanda Sykes (no word on whether Ralph's gentle caress of Wanda's behind made the final cut). Ralph's jump to the big screen comes after years of successful television work, including appearances on Seinfeld, Parenthood, Nick Freno, Living Single and In Living Color.

No stranger to late night, Ralph has been featured on The Tonight Show Starring Jay Leno and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. However Ralph is probably best known for his starring role in the ABC-TV sitcom 'On Our Own,' which aired during the immensely popular TGIF block on Friday nights, and which currently airs in syndication on TV One.

You can also catch Ralph on TV in airings of his two previously recorded Cable TV specials - Comedy Central Presents and the HBO Half-Hour Comedy Special.

When he's not filming, Ralph continues to tour the country and perform to sold-out audiences as a stand-up comedian, his first career and love. Ralph's comedy is character driven, and is influenced by many of the greats, including his idols Bill Cosby and Jonathan Winters.

Born and raised in Philadelphia... Ralph spends what little time he's not on the road performing, at home in Los Angeles.
