Judy Harris, a local retired, 71 year old, recently held a Christmas party to raise money for the homeless and poor.
Harris said, I was in a local store where they had a giving tree with tags on the tree, that had items in need for the poor.
It was that moment when it triggered my idea to raise money for the poor and homeless who are less fortunate at this time of year.
Harris continued, I've been down that road before in my life and I know how it feels, but now I am at a position where I can help.
Harris is retired from Bay County and held a fund-raising Christmas party at Castaways located on the Kawkawlin River in Bay City. A check from the Steel Workers Union was also presented to Marlene Sajdak representing the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission.
Guests included county employees and friends who also gave donations during the event.
A visit from SANTA CLAUS was also a highlight of the event, with kids and adults getting photos with Santa.
Harris, said, "I am always coming up with new ideas, and this was my gift to others in need at Christmas. I'm thinking of making it an annual fund-raising event. I really enjoyed doing this.
Music was provided by the band Dixie Highway, who kept the dance floor busy all night.
