Western's Lady Warriors looked to get their season on track when they took on Bangor John Glenn. But the hard pressing defense of the Lady Bobcats smothered any hopes of Western by downing their west side rivals with a 62-32 non-conference win.

Western looked strong out of the gates in the first quarter. Hitting their first three shots, the Lady Warriors built a quick 6-0 lead. As the Lady Bobcats warmed up, so did their passing and shooting touch as they drew even with Western, 9-9 with just over 2 minutes to play in the first quarter. Then Glenn added their press causing quick turnovers and even quicker points to finish out the quarter 13-9.

Glenn kept the press on the whole second quarter helping them keep Western under control while igniting their offense. The inbounds press caused a couple foot fouls giving Glenn the ball under their basket. And when the press wasn't intercepting passes, Sydney Thelen was smothering the point guard keeping Western from getting their offense on track while creating Bobcat fast breaks. Glenn outscored Western 15-6 for the quarter to take a 28-15 half time lead.

Glenn backed off the press in the second half but that didn't slow their defensive pressure and offensive fire. Kristen Moore lead the third period scoring by knocking down 7 points with teammates Erin Caspers adding 5 and Abby Kelly scoring 4 points. Meanwhile Western was held to 9 points as the Lady Bobcats built a 44-24 lead by the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter both teams utilized their benches for valuable playing time. In the end John Glenn notched a 62-32 win.

Kristen Moore lead John Glenn with 22 points while Western was lead by Diondra Heading who scored 8 points.
