Bay City's
'Friends of Celtic Culture' provided another stellar night of entertainment for Celtic music fans, on Saturday, January 21, 2011 at the beautiful State Theatre.
Mike Compau, Chair of the Entertainment Committee for the group, was pleased with the event's turn-out which was, "above average" according to him.
Entertaining the appreciative crowd.
He said, "We think this is very good attendance", referring to the nearly full house. He went on to say, "Especially considering it's the middle of January and it's so cold."
'Enter The Haggis' brought their lively, engaging music to Bay City and did not disappoint the expectant crowd. Their nearly 2 1/2 hour set was interrupted only by a 20 minute break to rehydrate.
'Haggis', a band originally from Canada, is a diverse band of musicians playing a multitude of instruments and crossing from traditional Irish tunes to more contemporary Celtic rock music.
Brian Buchanan, from the band, remarked on the State Theatre, "It's beautiful here and we're treated so well." About this being a return visit to Bay City, he added, " When people come out like this to see you, you'll come back!"
The bands next stop is Tampa, FL for approximately 10 days and then they will be on to Ireland in April.
"Haggis-heads" as they refer to themselves were abundant in the crowd and are loyal group of fans who follow the band. Some folks came as far away as Detroit to this event.
