McLaren-Bay Region Offers "Living in the Golden Years" Program

McLaren-Bay Region's Center for Rehabilitation will offer the program "Living in the Golden Years" on Thursday, February 16 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Center, 820 S. Lincoln, Bay City.

Many older people laugh jokingly about the "Golden Years" but the thrust of it is they are experiencing some age related health conditions and decreased independence. We will discuss some of these conditions that impact our lives and offer advice on how to make the most of these golden years. Presented by: Sandra Lauria, Occupational Therapist.

McLaren-Bay Region Sponsors "Boot Camp for New Dads"

McLaren-Bay Region will offer Boot Camp for New Dads on Thursday, February 23 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Women's Health Pavilion, Childbirth Education Classroom, 3175 W. Professional Drive, Bay City.

"Boot Camp for New Dads" is a community education program for first time fathers. Taught by fathers, Boot Camp enables new dads to step up to the tremendous challenge of being a dad and feel confident bringing the new baby home. The 3-hour class will cover not only baby care and fatherhood, but also the needs of new mothers.

Discussions center on topics such as forming a new family, the changing role of fathers, helping mom with breastfeeding, as well as hands-on opportunities for prospective dads to practice baby care skills under the guidance of veteran dads who bring their new babies to class. There will also be an interactive session featuring the best advice veteran dads can offer the rookies.

There is no class fee required due to financial support of Bay Medical Foundation. To register online, visit mclaren.org/bayregion and click on "Classes & Events." Call (989) 894-9517 to register by phone or for more information.

McLaren-Bay Region Schedules Breastfeeding Class

McLaren-Bay Region has scheduled a Breastfeeding Class on Tuesday, February 21 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Women's Health Pavilion, 3175 West Professional Drive, Bay City.

This class is for expectant mothers who wish to have more information on breastfeeding, we will address your questions and concerns and provide information on: benefits, getting off to the best start, proper positioning/latching on, troubleshooting tips, feeding patterns in infants, pumping and storing breast milk, and back-to-work routine. We encourage you to bring a support person to class.

The class is $25 for the one-night class; however the fee is reduced to $20 if also registered for any other class through McLaren-Bay's Childbirth & Parent Education program.
