For 37 years children from 1½ - 6 years old have been running, sliding and bouncing through the brightly colored walls of the tumbling room at Bay Valley Academy. The program, which is the only preschool gymnastic program in Bay City, is divided into two age groups, 1½-3 years for Tumble Cubs and then 3-6 years for Tumble Bears.

The rooms primary colored décor lends itself to fun and education with murals of familiar characters on the wall such as Tigger and Piglet, numbers for counting, ABCs, balloons and a large rainbow. Energy flows in the room and sets the tone for class.

Mrs. Nanci helps Trevor Dean do a spider walk up the wall.

Madilyn Reed crawls through a barrel.

Mrs. Lisa gives Aubree Wallaber a hand as she reaches for the top.

Each class starts with a warm up and then the activity transitions into making rounds to the different stations set up throughout the room. You will see children bouncing on a trampoline, sliding down the slide of a play house, swinging on rings, or doing a somersault down a large wedge. As the class continues additional elements are incorporated such as bubbles, bouncy balls, and lots of music and dance. For the older Tumble Bears, the second half of the class includes a trip to the big gym to experience the vault, big trampoline and beam. This program provides everything your child needs to stimulate their imagination, burn off energy and for some, their first introduction to socialization.

Rest assured your little ones are in the hands of women with the patience of saints and a love of teaching. Nanci Moore, who is better known to the students as Mrs. Nanci, is proud of the program they have been able to create and the little faces that she teaches each week."The class was created to help the children develop their large and small motor skills," says Moore, "It provides a social environment for the children to play and interact with others."

Parents of the little tumblers also find immense value in this program. "The class encourages socialization and active lifestyles from the get go," states Becky Lang, parent of Brayden Lang, "It helps with balance, coordination and also with listening."
