Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Dave Green announced today that the annual Chamber Golf Outing will have a new look and a new name for this year's July 16, 2012 event.

Green announced the plan at a special meeting of Chamber Premier Sponsors, held at the Bay City Country Club. The new name of the golf event will be "The Chamber Challenge."

The event will be held on the same day at both Bay Valley Golf Course and the Bay City Country Club site.

"For the past four years, we've been sold out at 38 foursomes," Green explained. Green went on to say that he's hoping to increase the number of teams from 38 to 48 total.

"Many business have expressed the desire to enter two teams," Green explained. "But we have not had the room to expand our entries."

The plan is to "blind draw" the teams and assign them to either the Bay Valley or the Bay City Country Club courses.

"Whatever the number of teams," Green pointed out. "Half will play on each course."

"Now for the best part," Green said. "The two course winners will play a one-hole championship sudden death play-off at Bay City Country Club immediately after play concludes on both courses."

"It's really only a short drive from Bay Valley to the Country Club," Green laughed. "And that's where the food is going to be," Green concluded.

Mike Seward
Chamber President, CEO

Chamber President and CEO, Mike Seward told the gathering of Premier Sponsors of the Chamber that he was strongly urging each company to send a team or even two to the event.

"This is a great networking opportunity for every company and organization in Great Lakes Bay Area to get involved with this event," Seward said. Seward said there will be more information available as soon as flyers and promotional flyers are available.
