The Center for Science in the Public Interest calls the Monster ThickBurger "the fast-food equivalent of a snuff film."
Everyone I know is on a diet. That includes me.
It wasn't easy trying to decide which diet to choose. There are so many choices these days: Cabbage Soup Diet, South Beach Diet, Atkins, Scarsdale, 2-Day Diet, 7-Day All You Can Eat Diet (My personal favorite), Russian Air Force Diet, Grapefruit Diet and on and on . . .
New Year's Resolution: Since the 2005 calendar turned over, the emphasis is on nutrition, low carbs, walking three miles a day. It means getting in shape for upcoming events that might include a college/high school re-union or a spring fling down in the Florida Keys - where I might be forced to wear a bathing suit.
My current (This in not my first time) diet plan allows about 1,400 calories a day.
I have been diligently staying away from fast food. Taking the advice of Subway's Jared, I've been thinking low fat, packing bananas and oranges for work snacks and watching portions - just like the good book says.
And then (just when I'mhitting my diet groove), along comes the Hardee Monster ThickBurger. Look at it. It makes the Rally's Big Buford look like Thickburger's Mini-Me.
And while McDonald's no longer "super-sizes" anything, Burger King (not to be outdone) is coming out in the very near future with something called the "Enormous Omelet Sandwich."
Early reports claim the going price for the 4" tall Monster Thickburger is $5.49. ($1 Coupon Available at www.monsterthickburger.com ) Calorically speaking, wolfing a Thickburger is equivalent to scarfing down a pair of Big Macs and topping the "meal" off with a large chocolate shake. And although that may sound like a fast-food feast, there is no place in my 2005 "Diet World" for sinful thoughts such as these.
What is going on? What are these fast food giants thinking?
The Center for Science in the Public Interest calls the Monster ThickBurger "the fast-food equivalent of asnuff film." Weighing in at 1,420 calories and 107 fat grams, the Thickburger relates to about 6 hours on the treadmill at 3.5 mph.
The Thickburger and the Enormous Omelet give new meaning to the phrase "Holiday Over-indulgence."
But hey, the math is wayyyyyy to easy. The Hardee Thickburger weighs in at 1,402 calories. My diet plan allows 1,400 calories daily. I'm Thinking . . . I could skip breakfast . . . have one Thickburger for lunch and then just drink Diet Coke for the rest of the day.
For now, I'll stick with my original New Year's Resolution plan.
