SAGINAW, MI -- The Saginaw Sting certainly kept the faith on Faith and Family Night with their 91-18 win over the Indianapolis Enforcers on Sunday. It was the second game of the season and the second win in a row for the hungry team. They also set a new CIFL record for most points scored in a game. Once again, the Sting got off to a lightning quick start which propelled them to an early lead of 14-6 at the end of the first quarter, and they never looked back.

The Sting defense was monstrous as they began the second quarter with a pick-6 from Andrew Deweerd, one of 4 interceptions on the day. They held the Enforcers' offense to only 18 points total by consistently getting stops and striking fear into the hearts of the opposing receivers. John Jacobs and Demarcus Copes both had 4 tackles, while Michael Carter and Vernon Burden contributed with a sack each. The Sting also had a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

The Force was strong with the Sting offensively, as they scored what seemed to be willingly throughout the game. QB Tommy Jones was on target all game with 190 yards passing, 5 touchdowns and no interceptions. Jones completed passes for touchdowns to 4 separate receivers. Charles Tarver caught two touchdowns, Zach Nichols, Andrew Beaver, and Keath Bartynski all added one of their own. The offensive line was able to protect their quarterback and not give up a single sack.

The Sting's special teams were extraordinary in the season's second game. Charles Tarver ran circles around the Enforcers as he returned both the final kickoff of the first half and the opening kickoff of the second half for touchdowns. The Sting's special teams were able to return 3 kicks for a total of 109 yards.

Although another hurdle has been jumped with this week's win, the Sting definitely realizes that the race to the finish is nowhere near complete.

The next stop on the road ahead is this Friday, March 30th at The Dow Event Center on Draper Auto Field against the Evansville Rage with a 6PM tailgate & 7:30PM kickoff. Tickets are still available at The Dow Box Office starting at only $10.
