As was initially reported in the March 11, 2012 article, "Lutheran Schools Unite for a Week of Celebration," students from Zion Lutheran School in Bay City collected toilet paper for the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission as part of a charitable project during the week-long school celebration.

On Friday, March 30th, 5 students along with Principal, Janet LaRocque, and Admissions Counselor, Sondra Yantz, delivered the tower of toilet paper that stood in the hallway of the school to the rescue mission. The goal was to make the tower taller than their tallest middle school student and that goal was achieved.

Upon arrival, Marlene Sadjak, Development Associate, gave the group a tour and an overview of the services of the rescue mission. Sadjak graciously thanked the group and let them know how important toilet paper is to a facility that has over 60 people using the resources daily.

The experience had a strong impact on the children. "The children were honored to be asked to come," said Yantz, "It was good for them to see that people of all ages live there including children." Ethan Sage and Devan Hilliker both agreed that the facility was, "Way better than they expected" and they all agreed that another charitable event to collect goods for the rescue mission would certainly be in the future.
