Step 2: Came to believe a power greater then ourselves could restore us to sanity.

Wow, first you tell me I am powerless and my life is unmanageable, now you tell me I maybe insane and only something more powerful than me can help?

Let us take a look at this. Remember, that we are dealing with something that is cunning, powerful, and baffling. It is a chronic, progressive disease to which there is no known cure which causes total spiritual bankruptcy. That we can put it into remission ourselves.
I am not insane and what about this spiritual thing? Spirituality is an innate thing (soul) that all humans have access to. It is your connection to the universe, others, and self. It can be a religious or a specific belief but that is not the only thing that it is.Morals, ethics, and values are a big part of this. Not all religious people are spiritual and not all spiritual people are religious.

Religion is for people that do not want to go to hell, Spirituality is for people that have been there and do not want to go back.

The insane part of alcoholism is not what we do when we are drunk (my blessed aunt would do goofy things when on alcohol) it is that once we decided to quit drinking, because of problems with the law, family, money, or job, we pick up again and can not figure out why or how we got started. Or when we have something important to do in life and need to stay sober to do it, we end up getting loaded instead or in spite.

Power greater than myself, that could be one other person or at the tables of AA the other people. If we bring our life's issues to the table and share there, now we have 6 or seven people helping us. Is not that a power greater than one?

As the chemical leaves our body and the brain starts to repair itself, which we now know it does provided there is not too much damage,we start to think clearer and the fog begins to lift.
