For the littlest golf enthusiasts, the Bay County Golf Course will be running a 3 week session, 2 times a week of junior golf lessons this summer. The aim of this program is to teach little golfers 5 and up the basics of what they need to know to hit the course with mom and dad and to strengthen the skills of the more advanced.

Brent Goik, Recreation and Golf Course Supervisor, will be heading up this program and providing lessons to the junior golfers. "Our Junior Golf Program hits all levels of young golfers from beginning to advanced," says Goik, "Our goal is to provide a safe, fun, and competitive learning environment."

Each session will cover a different topic including: putting, chipping, irons, woods, etiquette and will wrap up the final session with the chance to hit the course and enjoy an awards party.

Lessons are $10 each and participants can pick and choose which session they would like to go to. However, at the end, awards are given to junior golfers with the most attendance points in their age group along with a general participation award. "Kids like coming to the lessons because of the activities and when we tally the points it is motivation to stay week-to-week," states Goik.

Also this summer, junior golfers can keep an eye out for the Bay Area Junior Golf Association's golf tournament which is hosted for all ages. Dates and time to be announced in the up-coming weeks.

Please contact Brent Goik at 989-233-8210 or brentgoik@gmail.com for further information or registration.
