"Life is very short, and there's no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend"...
Lennon/McCartney

One half of the legendary writing duo of Lennon and McCartney met his fate on a cold Monday, December 8, 1980, when Mark David Chapman, mentally deranged, delusional and most certainly psychotic, chose to take Lennon's life in a shocking act of violence.

Four fatal bullets to his peace-loving back and gone in an instant and forever, were any future thought provoking lyrics and melodies from this musical icon. Songs that were always created and birthed by the very essence of who John Lennon was, the artist AND the man.

The world continues to mourn and miss his genius to this day.

George Harrison, the mastermind behind one of the greatest songs of all times, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", as well the simply beautiful, "Here Comes The Sun", to name just a few, succumbed to lung cancer at age 58.

He took a piece of the sun with him when he went and the world shines a little less brightly without him in it.

Richard Starkey, better known as Ringo Starr, impish and lovable drummer for The Beatles, will ring in his 72nd year on this our planet Earth, on July 7, 2012.

Picked as the fifth best drummer of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, Starr's no frills approach to drumming was magical simplicity and subtle brilliance. He continues to receive high praise and acclaim, to this day, from fellow drummers and fans alike.

His talent inspired and influenced many of the drummers in bands that preceded The Beatles such as, Nirvana, Tool, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Skillet and many more.

In January of this year, at age 71, Starr released his latest album 'Ringo 2012'.

Paul McCartney, the front man for The Beatles, who went on to a sensational solo career with his band Wings, is celebrating his 70th birthday as I write this on a warm Monday, June 18, 2012.

According to media sources, he chose to privately commemorate this momentous occasion with just his close family. One would believe he is most certainly resting up for the series of summer gigs ahead, so that tens of thousands can be graced to hear him sing the bittersweet words of 'Yesterday' again.

Although, 'The Beatles' officially broke up on April 10, 1970, they will continue to live forever in the music collections of present and future generations.

I feel richly blessed to have been part of the era of young children who watched their talented lives unfold. But, along with the sense of gratefulness, comes a moderate degree of melancholy.

Could 42 years since their rise to fame and subsequent solo careers really have passed already?

Can it really be the youthful, fresh-faced boys who captivated the entire planet, have seen two of their group of musical wizards already leave this world and two who are now officially in their 70's?

It doesn't seem possible that life moved that quickly, for The Beatles or for me.

However, Lennon/McCartney really did pen it best and there are no truer words than these.

"Life is very short, and there's no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend..."

Happy 70th Birthday, Sir Paul, from all of us.

And long may you sing.
