[Whether it be enjoying a great band, art or partaking in one of Michigan's many summer festivals, there is certainly not a lack of places to go and events to attend in our area.
Stay tuned to to mybaycity.com weekly on Thursdays for 'The Weekend Agenda'. I'll give you my take on some fun things to do and where my travels might take me!]
The entertaining, the stimulating, the wild, the cultural, the family friendly venues or the crazy ones. Everyone enjoys doing things in their downtime on the weekends.
I'm no different.
So...what's on my agenda for this weekend?? Well, let's see...
Bay City takes a little bit of rest between last week's big
River Roar weekend and the upcoming
Fourth of July Festival, but there are still plenty of things to do.
The
63rd St. Stan's AC Polish Festival opened Wednesday and goes thru Sunday, July 1st, 2012. It's a great place to head for casino games, bingo, carnival rides, homemade Polish and American food and well, the beer tent of course!
Thursday, in the entertainment tent starting at 6:00pm listen to - Jeff Mleczko's
DYNABRASS (www.dynabrass.com) and
POLKA RIOT (MI).
On Friday - Jeff Mleczko's
DYNABRASS and
THE POLISH CONNECTION (WI) (www.polishconnection.com).
Sunday, I might just have to head over to the beer tent to hear local polka favorites the
Steve Drzewicki Band and take a spin or two around the dance floor.
I would also like to take a stroll through
Studio 23/The Arts Center at 901 Water St., Bay City, MI, and view their current art exhibit,
'Women's Perspective'.
The exhibit showcases roughly 20 women artists and their exploration of art through various media and themes, as seen through the "eyes of extraordinary women".
The
House Katz play at BeMo's Bar Friday night. Located at 701 S. Madison St., Bay City, MI, there is no cover and they have live music seven nights a week.
House Katz have been around a long time and are always a sure crowd pleaser.
Saturday, there's a variety of things I'd like to catch starting with
White's Bar Summer Music Fest-A-Go-Go! Bay City's own
Andy Reed kicks off the event located on State St in Saginaw, at 2:00pm with his band
An American Underdog.
Stand-up comedy, wrestling, and music continues all day at this yearly outdoor event. The day boasts a full line up of 11 bands, with
The Banana Convention closing the night out at midnight.
In between it all, I have to make time to head to
Populace Coffee at 1003 Washington Ave., Bay City, MI to hear the live musical styling of
Vince Dynamic at 7:00pm Saturday evening.
Christopher Tanner, songwriter for the Michigan-based music project
Vince Dynamic, is making a name for himself in underground indie music scenes. Original indie/rock/pop music will be performed.
Vince Dynamic has been influenced by the Beach Boys and Weezer with "a lyrical direction derived partially from the Carpenters."
Great music, great coffee, art and great times ahead for the weekend!
