Registrations continue to come in for 2012 - 2013. There is still time to enroll children in Preschool, Early Fives, Kindergarten, and Grades 1 - 12 in the Bay Area Catholic Schools (BACS). School begins Tuesday, September 4 (Preschool starts September 5). For more information please call 989.894.8777 or email Sharon P. (spagryzinski@bacschools.org ).

A St. James School alumnus and long time donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, recently furnished the elementary school with 25 iPads plus extras for Sister Julie and several school volunteers. The school will host an iPad Training Workshop on Aug 22 at St. James Parish Center for their teachers and other interested teachers from across the Diocese of Saginaw to learn how best to utilize this new technology in the classroom.

The morning session will be completely devoted to the iPads while the afternoon will include additional information utilizing several other forms of technology in use within BACS and in other diocesan schools, such as Smart boards, Smart tables, and more. Integrating technology across the curriculum and applications will be the focus. More than three dozen teachers have already registered but a few workshop openings remain. Mark Deschaine will teach the workshop and is generously donating his time and talents for this day.

BACS will have some "new" faces as a result of hiring done this past month. All Saints is very pleased to announce the addition of three new teachers for the upcoming school year: Ms. Amanda Green for 6th grade Social Studies, English and Language Arts plus high school Yearbook; Mr. Brian Kohl for 7th grade Social Studies, high school World History, Government and Economics; and Mrs. Pat Cieszlak for 7th and 8th grade Sciences, high school Botany and Zoology. St. James warmly welcomes their new secretary, Mrs. Mary Ellen Verhalen.

All Saints, spring sports season ended in June, but accolades continued into July for several of our athletes.

ASC's Softball Team finished as quarter-finalists and shortstop, graduating senior Michelle Kleinau was selected by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association as an honorable mention for all-state and was honored as a Bay City Times Softball Dream Team member, who noted her .480 batting average.

Two of the five players on the Bay City Times Girls Tennis Dream Team were All Saints team members - graduating senior Jill Gerulski, who reached semifinals at regionals and tallied 48 victories in her four-year varsity career, and upcoming senior Danielle Lutz, who has 36 career wins, was the top player in Bay county, going undefeated at No. 1 singles, was a semifinalist in the regionals, and is a second year Dream Teamer.

In baseball, first baseman and upcoming senior Brian Feinauer was chosen by the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association as second-team all-state. The Greater Thumb Conference named Michelle Kleinau First Team Academic All-Conference, upcoming senior Kylie Wojciechowski Second Team and three graduating seniors, Ashley Pike, Autumn Dabrowski, and Jill Gerulski Honorable Mentions. Additionally, 50% of seniors, 45% of juniors, 36% of sophomores and 32% of freshmen earned school academic all-conference honors for playing on a conference varsity team and maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA. This represents 91 team positions and 41% of the 2011-12 high school student body.
