It's hard to believe that Wednesdays in the Park has completed it's run for the summer of 2012. But nevertheless, with Labor Day fast approaching, we find ourselves at the end of summer.

This summer saw no lack of talent, with artists like McGuffey Lane, That 60's Show, and Doug Varty (a Rod Stewart tribute), fans of music and entertainment alike were treated to fantastic acts every week all thanks to the Bay Arts Council and their sponsors. The final week was no exception.

Opening the final week was local talent Lauren Jones, a 16 year old Essexville resident. Lauren wow'd the massive crowd in Wenonah Park with her wonderful voice.

Inspired by her father, who would play guitar around the campfire singing old Beatles tunes, Jones decided to pick up the guitar herself only 3 years ago. Since then she's created a local band, attended a singer/song writer camp at Interlochen, and has even been invited by instructors for the first full Singer/Song Writer program at the school for the arts this fall.

"It's going to be hard to leave this beautiful city, but it's something I have to do for my career," said Jones. "So many people (my age) put this town down, but it's really a wonderful place."

The Bay Arts Council brought Phil Dirt and the Dozers back to Bay City for the final act in 2012's Wednesdays in the Park. Phil Dirt and the Dozers are a cover band, but those words can't possibly do them justice. Their renditions of the classics brought people to their feet, bringing them back to the golden age of rock'n roll.

For years Phil Dirt and the Dozers have been praised, honored, and downright loved by people everywhere. The Dozers have kept their eyes keenly focused on musical perfection, quality, and entertaining their audiences. Their seasoned wit, extraordinary talent, music excellence, and artful versatility have granted them a place among classic rock'n roll legends.

Wednesdays in the Park will be back again next year, no doubt with some even more incredible talent, provided as a free service by the Bay Arts Council and their fantastic sponsors.
