Another weekend, another strong action flick. This week Expendables 2 hits theaters, right in the mouth... then it blows up the mouth and high fives it's way in to the sunset. Seriously. There's so much action in this action hero studded movie that you'll probably never want to watch an older action movie again (OK, that might be a lie).
Can you really afford to not see this movie? No. The answer is no.
If settling down with some popcorn and watching old dudes blow stuff up is your idea of a good time this weekend, and why wouldn't it be, then see the Expendables. You won't be disappointed. Now, if the exact opposite is what you're looking for, then you've got a couple of different options.
Also coming to theaters, with a little less explodey-ness, are the animated movie ParaNorman and the Odd Life of Timothy Green. I have to say, that I want to experience both of these films, but I'm a sucker for animated movies (I kind of throw money at the screen when Pixar releases it's summer movie every year). They both seem to have some a compelling story and some adult themes mixed in to the mix. Usually a great formula. While Timothy Green may not be animated, it appears to be a great story for the family to experience together.
Finally, there is Sparkle. A story of the rise and (possibly) fall of an all girl group in the 1960's. Seems like it could be a good choice if drama is more your preference this weekend.
