Having pride in one's home town, now that's pure Michigan. The well known, and very popular campaign rolled through the Great Lakes Bay Region this past week, stopping by Bay City on Monday.

"They're here to help promote the Great Lakes Bay Region," said Mike Bacigalupo, "they're shooting in Frankenmth, Bay City, Saginaw, and Midland." Bacigalupo is the owner of the State Theater in Bay City and does a great deal to help promote the area. He was up on the stage in Wenonah Park (where Monday's shoot was held) directing the large crowd on what to do and where and when to do it.

The Pure Michigan Campaign gave residents of the Great Lakes Bay Region a unique opportunity to be represented in the upcoming ad for their area. They asked everyone that could, through e-mail and social media blasts, to come down to Wenonah Park from 2PM-3:30PM on Monday August 20th and sing a line from the popular Owl City song Good Time (feat. Carly Rae Jepsen) and the Pure Michigan crew rode by through the Saginaw River capturing the moment on video.

"This is my first time being in a commercial," said Miss Teen Bay County Ashton Tacey, "it's been a great experience!" Tacey was proud to be representing her community and was so glad to have the opportunity to do so as Miss Teen Bay County. "I just got crowned on July 20th," said Tacey, "it's given me the chance to become the role model for youth, teens, and even adults and it's a great way to be out in safe environments and while giving back to the community!"

Those in attendance were asked to sing one line from Good Time, "We look up at twilight," while pointing behind themselves and looking at the passing camera. Once everyone was settled in, Bacigalupo ran through the line of the song quite a few times, letting everyone feel comfortable with what they had to do. At around 3:15PM Bacigalupo got the call to send everyone over to the river so the film crew could make their pass. Without music to guide the crowd, there were people counting down to give everyone their cues. The boat carrying the film crew, The Islander, passed a two times, once for video shots and once for audio takes. After only a few minutes the process was over and the eager and generous participants were able to go home, knowing that they got to be a huge help in promoting the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Thank you Sean, for the great pictures! I was down there and everyone was having such a good time. I especially like that you got the young ladies from the beauty school--they were really rockin it and were really getting their choreography down! It was so nice to see the community coming together and seeing all the kids from the sailing school out on the river was an added bonus. Very enjoyable article!
