Comstock Park's Double Barrel Players Too Much For John Glenn Panther's Jake Brown threw and ran for 265 yards and 6 touchdowns in 41-19 win.

There was no mystery with the Comstock Park play calling. Either QB Jake Brown or running back Jake Bush was going to run the ball or Brown was going to throw to Bush. As simple as this was, it was an unstoppable combination as the Panthers scored on every possession in the first half en route to a 41-19 victory over John Glenn.

Comstock Park featured a no huddle veer offense with senior all-state quarterback, Jake Brown at the controls. With heavy rain clouds following them over from the west side of the state, they quickly went to the air as Brown hooked up with running back, Jake Bush multiple times to march the ball downfield. Then Brown finished off the 57 yard drive running the ball in from 4 yards out for a 6-0 lead.

John Glenn immediately responded with a well played drive. QB Derrek Clyde hit Alexander Delgado on a crossing pattern at the 34 for a key third down play. Moments later, it was Delgado breaking tackles off the Panther left side for a 38 yard run carrying the ball to the Panther 8. Delgado finished the drive off with an eight yard run down the left side and with Connor Windiate's kick, the Bobcats held a 7-6 lead.

After Bush took the kickoff and ran it back to the Park's 45, the Panther's went right back on the attack. Using the adage that if a play works, keep running it until you can stop it, Comstock Park hammered at the Bobcat defense with a five yard pitch and catch from Brown to Bush and let Bush take it from there. The strategy work as the Panthers moved right down the field with Brown running it in from the 15 yard line and with the kick, it was 13-7 Comstock Park.

Anthony Merchant seemed to keep the Bobcats offense going with a nice 15 yard run. But the Park defense stiffened forcing a punt and following a return the Panther's Jake Goodin to their 43 yard line, Comstock Park started the second quarter in good field position.

With the change of field direction there also came a change in the weather as heavy rains hit John Loop stadium and remained for the rest of the game. With the rains, the Panthers stayed on the ground preferring steady doses of QB Brown. This attack proved deadly as they marched right down the field with Brown breaking loose for a 20 yard run and a 19-7 lead.

Following a Bobcat three and out, Brown peeled off runs 25 yards to the Bobcat 35 then moments later ran 34 yards for a touchdown. Brown then ran in a two point conversion and it was a commanding 27-7 lead.

While the rains showed no signs of letting up, neither were the Bobcats going to either. Starting from their 30 yard line, Glenn pounded the center of the Park defense with Quentin Thomas as the Bobcats began marching down field. Then Clyde found Tyler Robbins down the right sidelines. The sophomore receiver jumped up and over his defender to haul in the 25 yard pass for a first down at the five. Anthony Merchant finished of the drive powering in from the one and following a high snap failed extra point attempt, the lead was cut to 27-13.

Even with less than two minutes to go in the half, the Panthers were not done. Brown attacked first with a 28 yard keeper. Next he hit his very tall receiver, Drake (no not Jake this time) Baar for 30 yards to the Bobcat 10. Two plays later, Brown found the end zone and a 33-13 halftime lead.

Comstock Park scored on their first possession of the second half as they kept the Brown attack going pulling to a 41-13 lead. Glenn later responded driving first on the legs of Thomas up the middle, then adding a 13 yard pass to Delgado and finishing off with a 9 yard run by Merchant. When the extra point was blocked the final score was sealed at 41-19.

Jake Brown carried the ball 22 times for 171 yards while Jake Bush added 19 yards on 9 carries. Brown was 11 for 13 for 94 yards with Bush catching 9 of those balls for 60 yards.

John Glenn was lead by Quentin Thomas who carried the rock 15 times for 79 yards. Alex Delgado added 75 yards on 11 carries and Anthony Merchant ran 14 times for 49 yards and two touchdowns. Derrek Clyde passed for 49 yards on a rains soaked night.
