Garber traveled to Birch Run needing a win to climb back into the Tri-Valley Conference championship picture. What they got was an explosive first half that saw them build a 34-7 half time lead. Adding to this attack was a strong defensive effort that produced a goal line stand that was immediately followed by a 99 yard Noah Bargouthy touchdown run allowing Garber to jump back into the championship hunt with a 47-19 win.

Garber received the opening kickoff and worked their option offense to perfection. Alternating tailbacks of Noah Bargouthy and Wes Asel coupled with quarterback Simeon Berry's outside option threat, the Dukes marched 67 yards in 9 plays with Bargouthy bursting off left tackle for a 5 yard touchdown run. With Drew Piotrowski's kick, Garber led 7-0.

That lead only lasted 13 seconds as Birch Run's Tanner Niedecken received the kickoff and returned it right down the middle of the field. The junior receiver ran 92 yards for a touchdown making it 7-7.

When both teams traded punts, it was the Birch Run punt that was most exciting. Garber's Sean Reilly picked up the punt on the first bounced at his 48, side stepped the first wave of would be tacklers then cut out behind his wall of blockers to race 52 yards down the sideline putting the Dukes in front, 13-7.

Later in the first quarter, Garber's Bargouthy pounced on a Panther loose ball and the Dukes were back in business on their 37 yard line. On their first play, it was Bargouthy who took the handoff off left tackle and bouncing outside, fought his way 44 yards to the Panther 19. Then it was Wes Asel's turn running the ball. The senior standout drove 11 yards to the 4 yard line. Then he finished off the drive taking the ball in for a touchdown on the next play putting Garber up 20-7 with just over a minute left in the first quarter.

Moments later it was Asel stepping up again, this time on the defensive side of the ball. The outside linebacker stepped in front of the pass intercepting the ball on the Panther 30 to end the first quarter.

Garber started the second half right where they left off. Running a reverse with wide out Dakota Biddle, the junior ran by the Panther defense and in for a 30 yard touchdown and a 27-7 lead.

The second quarter saw the Garber defense make big plays. Birch Run got a good kickoff return and coupled with a facemask penalty were in business on the Duke 47. The Panthers started pounding at the Duke middle moving the ball downfield. Then Wes Asel and Company came up with a big third and inches stop for a three yard loss. The D line then stopped Birch Run inches short of a first down giving Garber the ball on their 15.

Garber immediately started driving but a fumble gave the ball back to Birch Run at the Duke 32. Garber's Alex Neering took center stage with a big third down hit and loss forcing the Panthers to the air. Brad Hages then batted the ball away at the goal line and Garber had the ball back with little time remaining in the half.

A nice Asel run on the option followed by a 10 yard slant pass to Hages had the Dukes at midfield with just under a minute to play. Berry stayed in the air hitting CJ Glaza down the middle then Dakota Biddle over the top putting the ball at the Panther's 11 with 5 seconds on the clock. Garber set up for a Piotrowski field goal attempt, well within his range. But the Dukes wanted more. On the snap, wide receiver Brad Hages took the handoff from the holder, Berry and raced around the right end reaching the end zone for an 11 yard touchdown making the first half score 34-7.

The second half saw a slow down in scoring but not before Garber tallied on their first possession. After forcing a Panther three and out, quarterback Simeon Berry struck lightning. Following his blockers through the hole, he accelerated blowing by everyone for a 52 yard touchdown increasing the lead to 40-7.

Late in the quarter, Birch Run took advantage of a Duke fumble. Marching down the field, QB Andrew Helm punched it in from the one narrowing the lead to 40-13. Garber made it interesting as on their next possession, a bad pitch was recovered by Birch Run and seemingly the momentum was changing. Starting from the Duke 30, the Panthers hammered at the middle of the line slowly working their way down field. On Birch Run's second fourth down play of the drive, Garber stopped the Panthers at the one yard line. Then the Garber offense and Noah Bargouthy sealed the deal on the next play.

Bargouthy took the handoff and finding a huge hole, made a quick shake and bake move then burst outside for an exciting 99 yard touchdown run. When backup kicker, CJ Glaza split the uprights, it was 47-13.

Birch Run was able to add a score as time ran out making the final 47-19.

Garber gained a total of 407 yards on the ground. Noah Bargouthy led all rushers with 207 yards on 14 carries. Simeon Berry added 84 yards on 12 carries and Wes Asel chipped in 54 yards on 10 carries. Berry also added 45 yards in the air on 5 of 10 throwing.

For Birch Run, Preston Hogan ran for 132 yards on 23 carries.
