Despite Saginaw Heritages one and three record, Western knew they were in for a battle. A battle is just what the Warriors got as Heritage scored 10 points in each of the first two quarters to take a 20-14 lead into halftime.

But defensive adjustments shut down Heritage and a 90 yard run from Charles Proctor in the fourth quarter helped the Warriors remain undefeated as they came away with a 28-20 win.

Heritage came out strong as they marched down to the Warrior four yard line. A strong defensive stand force a 21 yard field goal and a 3-0 lead.

Western immediately responded driving down to the Heritage 7. There QB Joe Ivan rolled right and found Andrew Mudd for a 7 yard scoring strike and a 7-3 lead.

Saginaw Heritage expanded their lead in the second quarter. Putting together a nice drive, work horse Marquin Evans powered the ball in from the 9 yard line and the Eagles were now up 17-7. Western got the ball moving as they crossed the midfield stripe. Then Ivan connected with Mudd again, this time for 49 yards and a touchdown and the Warriors had pulled to within three points, 17-14.

The Eagles had their offense rolling much behind the strong running of Marquin Evan who ran for 180 yards on the night on 27 carries. On their last possession of the half, they drove the ball to the Warrior 5 yard line. But with time running out, the Eagles settled for a 22 yard field goal giving them a 20-14 halftime lead.

Western got the scoring started to begin the second half. Using the balanced attack of Charles Proctor ( 139 yards on 12 carries) and Mason Myers (132 yards on 19 carries) the Warriors drove to the Heritage 5 where Proctor finished off the drive for a 21-20 lead.
