SAGINAW, MI - After careful evaluation by Head Coach Fred Townsend and his staff, eight players were invited to participate in the January training camp.
They include: Leo Frazier, DeWayne Jackson, Darrius Norton, Devante McDole, William Burch, Leon Fourcha, Amir Abu-Aita, and DeShawn Hayes. Each of these prospective players competed for a training camp roster spot back on October 28th at the Saginaw Athletic Club Sting Combine.
The competition included over 20 prospects vying for multiple spots on the depth charts of the training camp roster.
This year's training camp, set to begin in January, appears to be shaping up to be very interesting and highly competitive as we look to see who will make the final roster.
One standout from the tryout was 2008 Heritage High School graduate DeShawn Hayes. Hayes proved himself to be an athletic and intelligent football player. After being a top Michigan recruit and making a huge impact for the Northwood University Timberwolves, Hayes has decided to continue his football career with the Saginaw Sting.
There are still spots available on the Sting roster! A second tryout has been scheduled for Saturday, December 15th at the Perani Arena in Flint. Click here to pre-register today! Registration fees are $60 by pre-registering and $75 at the door.
