I began my day Thursday morning working in an area of journalism that is way out of my comfort zone-but by the end of my hour and a half on the air for "Last Choice Country," I learned that radio is actually a lot of fun!

I started off my morning by thoroughly embarrassing myself because I told them that I didn't know who Eric Jylha was. Josh and Shawn wouldn't let me live that one down. We then talked about a lot of weird news stories, including one about an office building with thousands of workers that banned poinsettias because one employee was allergic.

The stories kept getting weirder and weird, on story was about a man who left his baby at home and claimed that "the dog was watching it." However, the wackiest of all the stories we got to discuss was one about a women who went to Las Vegas to marry a cardboard cutout of Robert Pattinson-I take it she's on team Edward. I think that the weird news stories were one of my favorite things about doing the morning radio show, the stories we covered gave me quite a few laughs.

Josh and Shawn were very helpful. They made sure that I always knew what I was doing before I went on the air. This was especially important when I was doing the weather. They gave me all of the proper cues, and even though I was scared out of my mind, it wasn't as bad as I thought. By the time I got to do the weather again, I felt much more confident.

One thing that I learned about the radio from my day on the air was that you should never try to be funny. Josh and Shawn told me that you have to draw off of your own experiences, and talk as if you are just having a regular conversation. This turned out to be harder than I thought, but I eventually started to get the hang of it.

Despite the fact that I went into the office on Thursday not really knowing what to expect, I think going onto "Last Choice Country" was a great way for me to see a whole new side of journalism. All in all, I think that my radio debut as "Taylor the Intern" was relatively successful. I am extremely grateful to have had this opportunity, and I would definitely like to do it again sometime.
