SAGINAW, MI - He was the most electrifying player in the CIFL in 2012. He returned kicks for touchdowns virtually on demand, intercepted passes for six points with ease, came across the middle to catch td passes without fear, heck he even threw for a touchdown last year. And now the Sting organization is proud to announce the re-signing of #1 Charles "CJ" Tarver.

"I'm glad to be back in the place I call my second home," said Tarver. Tarver, who resides in Albany, New York, commutes to Saginaw for practices and games by the way of his daytime occupation - an employee of Delta Airlines. Tarver was highly regarded by former Sting 2011 star linebacker Philip Smith before the start of the 2012 season. After Smith put a call into Co-Owner and Director of Football Operations Stuart Schweigert, Tarver was on the next flight out to a Sting tryout last January; and as they say the rest is history.

The Saginaw Sting don't rebuild, they reload. That statement sums up the 2012 offseason leading into the start of training camp which is set to begin for the Sting next Monday evening. That statement is a quote straight from the mouth of returning starting Linebacker and former Northwood standout Andrew Deweerd. "Good organizations don't rebuild, they reload," said Deweerd, "I'm excited to be back with the Sting for the 2013 season, and I can't wait to see The Dow Event Center stands filled with all our loyal fans this year!"

Schweigert expressed his excitement with his re-signing as well, "What can I say about Andrew that Sting fans do not already know. He is the heart and soul of our record setting defense and in my opinion, the best defensive player in the CIFL. He has tremendous size and speed and has a knack for getting to the ball and punishing the runner when he gets there. He also has the skill to break on the pass and take an interception back for 6 points."

Being less than 12 hours away from regular season single game tickets going on sale, the Sting are making a statement as to why your money would be well spent. Along with Deweerd and Tarver, several other players have re-signed on with the Sting for the upcoming season and now include the likes of Jordon Derosia & Dwight Hargrove.

Jordon Derosia, a 6'3" 305 pound OL from Saginaw Valley State, will return to anchor the offensive line in the Sting's quest for a third consecutive indoor football title. "Jordon is one of the best offensive linemen I've ever coached," said Head Coach Fred Townsend. "I'm excited to have him back playing for us and representing the Sting."

Dwight Hargrove, a 225 pound DE and Saginaw High product, will return to his familiar role after a career-defining 2012 season. "Dwight learned a lot last year as a first year player. We look forward to his growth and ability to play multiple positions," said Coach Townsend. "His energy level and his ability to make big hits in open space will force our opponents to look for him on the field."

The Sting season kicks off on Friday February 8th at The Dow when they take on the Marion Blue Racers live from Draper Auto Field.
