Thomas Instrument has more than 30 years of experience in all phases of support for legacy military flight hardware.
Texas based Thomas Instrument, an AS9100RevC Standard certified engineering and manufacturing company, has announced plans to open a satellite manufacturing and engineering facility in Bay City at the beginning of May 2013.
David Lange, Lead Engineer, Mechanical Actuation for Thomas Instrument, said that the plans for the new location will initially include 2-4 additional positions; a CAD Designer/Drafter, Quality Technician, and Assembly & Test Technicians. Lange will work out of the facility as well.
Lange said that the company will be opening May 1st and has decided to lease 7,500sf of space from ITI Properties LLC inside the Marquette Industrial Park. About a third of the space will act as the offices for the company and the remaining space will be utilized for manufacturing. The Bay City location will house inspection equipment, light manufacturing, assembly, test, an engineering office and supplier support as part of Thomas Instrument's vertical integration of manufacturing, engineering and testing.
Tommy Blackburn IV, President of Thomas Instrument, stated that locating in Bay City offers strategic advantages of a top-notch labor market and supplier base for the company.
"We have been able to locate the talent needed to launch this location and have found solid partnerships with the local officials and economic development staff at Bay Future," Blackburn said. Blackburn projects future growth in Bay City to manufacture and produce out of the facility as well as add on employees.
