The new 10-plex is projected to open prior to Christmas 2013.

Goodrich Quality Theaters, Inc, owners of the Saginaw 12 theater, plan to break ground on May 17, 2013 for construction of a new 10-screen theater. A ground breaking ceremony will commence at 12:00pm on Friday May 17th in the land adjacent to the Saginaw 12 theater.

Some attendees that will be present at the ground breaking ceremony include: Bob Goodrich, President & Owner of Goodrich Quality Theaters, Martin Betz, Chief Operating Officer of Goodrich Quality Theaters, Ross Pettinga, Chief Financial Officer of Goodrich Quality Theaters, Bill Brunner, Vice President of Paradigm Design, Steve King, Director of Kochville Township DDA, representatives from Wolgast Corporation and representatives from Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce.

Goodrich currently owns and operates the Saginaw 12 theater located at 3250 Kabobel in Saginaw, MI at the intersection of Bay Rd. and Tittabawassee. The new 50,000 sq. foot multiplex will be built next to the current theater. Paradigm Design and Wolgast Corporation are contracted for the new $12 million dollar theater project.

The new 10-plex is projected to open prior to Christmas 2013. The Saginaw 12 building will be demolished after the new theater is opened. Demolition on two auditoriums of the Saginaw 12's north wing will be starting Friday May 10th to make room for the storm drainage for the 10-plex. The current theater will operate with 10 screens until the opening of the new 10-plex in late 2013.

Goodrich will debut their first cutting-edge large format auditorium, "GDX" for Giant Digital Xperience. This premium theater experience will feature a giant screen over 70-feet wide with floor-to-ceiling viewing.

The GDX screen will be the largest screen and auditorium north of Flint, MI. The new theater will continue to offer all digital projection and 3D, and other amenities to include:

  • Dolby Atmos sound in the GDX auditorium that features over 400 seats
  • D-BOX auditorium featuring motion effects seats
  • State of the art viewing with wall to wall screens
  • All stadium seating for up to 2,500 guests with premium high back seating
  • Spacious lobby with massive box office and concession stand with self-serve drink refill stations
  • Self-serve ticket counters, advanced theater architecture, private party and meeting rooms
