Bay Area Community Foundation Announces Scholarship Awards of over $205,000

Bay City, MI - The Bay Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce 205 students will receive scholarships on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. Over 500 generous donors, scholarship recipients and their families will gather to celebration the student's accomplishments at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Bay City. Magen Samyn will serve as the keynote speaker. Mrs. Samyn serves as the President & CEO of Bay Future, a private-public alliance of government, business and other organizations that support economic growth in Bay County.
"The scholarship recipients will be awarded 242 separate scholarships totaling more than $205,000," stated Eileen Curtis, President & CEO. "The scholarships are made possible by generous donors who have created endowed funds at the Bay Area Community Foundation. Our donors recognize the value of education and understand how financial obstacles prevent the achievement of educational goals. We are very proud the Foundation can serve as the facilitator for providing financial assistance to Bay and Arenac County students. Over 80% of the students who receive Foundation scholarships attend college within 90 miles of Bay County."
