When traveling past Gary Shepard's home located at 7320 W. Freeland Rd, on any given day it appears to be normal.
That is until Shepard sets up his Christmas display extravaganza. Shepard's display contains over 85,000 Christmas lights and is ready for viewing from 5:30 - 10:00 pm each night until January 1st.
1. Visit 7320 W. Freeland Rd
2. Tune your car's radio to 93.9 FM
3. Enjoy the show from the warmth of your car!
For the sixth consecutive year, Shepard will be collecting spectator donations for the CAN Council.
Daily shows start at 5:30 pm, and the last show starts at 10:00 pm. Early evening shows start every quarter hour and last about 12 minutes. Shows beginning at 9:00 pm last about 22 minutes and include additional songs.
While visitors were enjoying last year's display, Shepard was busy developing this year's. Decorating for Christmas started young for Shepard. "Decorating with lights started at an early age for me, at around 7 years old, when Santa brought me 5 strings of GE Merry Midget lights." He began setting the blink of the lights to music in 2005 and collecting visitors' donations for CAN in 2008. To date, Shepard's Freeland Lights Show has raised $28,760.91 for CAN Council Great Lakes Bay Region.
Suzanne Greenberg, President/CEO of CAN Council says, "Our community looks forward to Mr. Shepard?s spectacular Lights Show each year. This is a simple way to enjoy the holiday season while helping the families and children served by CAN."
