FERRIS GRADS MOVE UP: Kim Klein Earns Doctorate, Mott Promotes Jim Baber

Bay Cityans Kimberly Klein and Jim Baber have earned plaudits from their alma mater, Ferris State University.
Dr. Klein, an associate professor of Political Science at Delta College, recently was awarded the doctorate in Community College Leadership by Ferris.
Baber was promoted from instructor to coordinator of the Mott Community College Criminal Justice Program in Flint. He is a doctoral candidate in Community College Leadership at Ferris and is a graduate of Saginaw Valley State University.
A 1981 graduate of Bay City All Saints High School, she played college basketball at Delta College and Oakland University. She was a champion speed skater who won national and North American titles and was a finalist for the U.S. Olympic team.
Baber was a top athlete in football and track at Bay City Central High and at Saginaw Valley State University, where he won the shotput in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as a freshman. He also won several state and national titles in martial arts.
He earned a master's degree in Criminal Justice from Ferris and was graduated from the Michigan State University School of Police Staff and Command. He was a lieutenant with the Davison Township police department for 10 years.
