PORTSMOUTH HISTORY: Supervisor Robert Pawlak Sked at Museum's 2nd Saturday

Supervisor Robert Pawlak is slated to speak at the Second Saturday program of the Bay County Historical Society.

The presentation will be at 1 p.m. at the Historical Museum, 321 Washington Avenue, Bay City, it was announced by Museum Curator Ron Bloomfield.

Created from a portion of Hampton Township, Portsmouth Township was organized on March 5, 1859 and became the fourth township in Bay County.

"Join Township Supervisor Robert Pawlak as he presents a look at its history and projects planned for the future," said Mr. Bloomfield.

Pawlak is serving his seventh four year term as Portsmouth supervisor, being first elected in 1988. A teacher in the Bay City Public Schools, Pawlak served Bay County Commissioner 1983-1984.

A graduate of Bay City Central High School, he earned an associates degree from Delta College, a B.A. from Saginaw Valley State University, and M.A.T. (Master of Arts in Teaching) from Marygrove College.

He is a board member of Bay-Arenac Behavioral Health, treasurer of the Bay County Township Officers Association, and is involved with the Saginaw Bay Writing Project.

"Seating capacity is limited for our Second Saturday presentations... come early to assure a seat!"

Second Saturday is held at the Museum on the second Saturday of each month January-November at 1:00 pm. These presentations feature a wide variety of topics by guest experts, and there is no admission charge. Refreshments will be served. For more information call the Museum at (989) 893-5733.
