Winford Engineering, an electrical module manufacturer will be starting construction on their new headquarters in Williams Twp. This comes off the unanimous approval by the township board of the company's Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption Application, last night. The board granted the company a 12-year, 50 percent abatement on personal and real property taxes. In real property alone the company will realize cost savings of over
$60,000.
Excavation has already begun on the 4.5 acre site where the 6,000 square foot building will stand. The building will
provide the brothers that own the company (John and Ben Bright) office space, production space, warehousing
space, and shipping/receiving space. All of which is currently consolidated in much smaller spaces on the Bright's
homesteads.
"We are really excited to see construction start soon," said Ben Bright, co-partner of Winford Engineering. "We are
busting at the seams here." Bright said he expects construction to begin as soon as excavation is completed and
that the company should be moving in to its new location before the end of the year.
Bright is optimistic that with this move, along with the subsequent expansion of the company's product line,
additional employees will be needed.
"We are a small business and we have been growing, but were doing so incrementally. The construction of the new
facility will open doors to new products and services which we can't provide with our current limitations, so we
anticipate new hires to meet those needs," Bright said.
Paul Wasek, Supervisor for Williams Township, along with the Williams Township Board congratulated the company
on their investment and welcomed them to the township. "We are glad to have Winford come to our township and
we are looking forward to all of the great things that they will be doing at their new facility," said Wasek. "It's a nice
investment, by a great small business, and anything that we can do to help them, we will do our best."
Williams Township officials and Bay Future, Inc. have been assisting the company on their project for more than a
year.
Trevor M. Keyes, acting interim President & CEO of Bay Future, Inc. said, "We are very happy with the approval of
the abatement and thank the Williams Township Board for their efforts and support. The cost savings Winford
Engineering will realize through the tax exemption will be vital to its future success and will provide them a strong
foundation to reinvest in new equipment, new hires, and new product offerings."
Winford Engineering was founded in 1999 by the Bright brothers and manufactures electrical connection
equipment, control modules, and custom circuitry.
