Westminster Presbyterian Church Schedules Inquirers' Class

Westminster Presbyterian Church, 103 E. Midland Street, Bay City, has scheduled "Inquirers' Classes" beginning Sunday, November 20. This group will continue to meet each Sunday morning from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. until December 4, 2005. Classes will be held in the chapel.

Pastor Bill Hennessy will lead the classes and a representative of the church will also be in attendance at each session to answer any questions or concerns. Following the three-week session, each person in attendance will have the opportunity to join Westminster Presbyterian Church during a special worship service scheduled in mid-December.

The first session (Sunday, November 20) will be "What We Believe as Presbyterians." The second session (Sunday, November 27) will review the Presbyterian Church USA and their mission.

The last session (Sunday, December 4) will focus on Opportunities to Serve at Westminster with a tour of the church hosted by Pastor Hennessy.

GM POWERTRAIN HELD FUNDRAISER FORHELEN M. NICKLESS VOLUNTEER CLINIC

This past summer and fall, General Motors Powertrain employees in Bay City were "crafty" about the $2,000 they raised for the Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic.

GM Powertrain employees were invited to donate craft items, such as homemade crafts,quilts, collectables, and home interior items. Raffle tickets were then sold at GM Powertrain for $5 each or three for $10. Five winners were chosen to win one of the craft items every week from August 25th through October 6th , according to Harvey Schneider, Community Service Chair for UAW Local 362 at Bay City's GM Powertrain division.

GM Powertrain has 1,000 employees and is located at 1001 Woodside, Essexville, Michigan.

The Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic, which provides free medical care, is a service of the community and Bay Medical Foundation. It is located in Medical Mall #2, 1480 W. PAINTINGS DONATED TO MEDICAL FACILITY BY ELIZABETH ASCHAUER

The Bay Medical Care Facility has accepted a gift of five paintings by Elizabeth Meagher Aschauer of Wilmette, Illinois.

Elizabeth Claire Meagher was graduated from St. James High School in Bay City and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. She earned a Fine Arts degree from Barat College, Lake Forest, Illinois.

While studying at the Art Institute of Chicago, she won the Margaret Smith Award.

The framed paintings include four oils and one major watercolor that will adorn the front lobby.

The gift of art from Mrs. Aschauer is meant to honor her sister and resident, Mary Madeline "Marty" DeOpsomer.

Baby Class for BIG Kids

Bay Regional Medical Center will offer a Baby Class for BIG Kids (sibling preparation class) on Monday, November 21, 2005 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at Bay Regional Medical Center, Mental Health Building, Room 208, Bay City.

This is a 1-½ hour class for children ages 3-8 that are expecting a new baby at home. In this class, children will receive information about newborns, take a tour of the nursery, see where children may visit their mother, and talk about being a new big brother or sister.

Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic offers Health Education Class on Alchohol Abuse

The Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic is offering a free health education class to the community about "Alcohol and Substance Abuse". The class will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Health Education Center (Suite #7 in Medical Mall 2), located adjacent to the Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic, 1480 W. Center Road, Essexville. "Alcohol and Substance Abuse" will be presented by Scott Gilman from the Riverhaven Coordinating Agency. This program will provide an overview of chemical dependency. Information on resources in the community will also be discussed.There is no charge to attend. All classes are open to the community. Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic offers Women's Health Education Class The Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic is offering a free health education class to the community about "Women's Health". The class will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Health Education Center (Suite #7 in Medical Mall 2), located adjacent to the Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic, 1480 W. Center Road, Essexville.

"Women's Health" will be presented by Sue Montei, RN, Nurse Practitioner. Preventative health information for women, including information on birth control, STD's and HIV, will be discussed at this program.

The Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic knows how special Bay Harbor Marina's customers really are. On August 26, 2005, a fundraiser for the Volunteer Clinic was held during Bay Harbor Marina's Customer Appreciation Day and netted approximately $1,000.

Dale Gettel, General Manager and Partner at Bay Harbor Marina, along with his wife Janice, an RN at Bay Regional Medical Center's Outpatient Department, held a 50/50 drawing and a dunk tank during the event to raise money for the Clinic.

Bay Harbor Marina is located in Bay City at the end of Wilder Road on the Saginaw River.
