You can help Bay Regional Medical Center serve patients with the latest in medical technology by dancing and enjoying yourself next Saturday, Dec. 10.

All you have to do is buy a ticket and take your partner to the annual classic the Charity Ball.

Proceeds from this year's Charity Ball, themed "It's a Wonderful Night," will be used to purchase an Interoperative Ultrasound machine for Bay Regional Medical Center.

Ultrasound technology uses sound waves to create images of tumors, internal organs, cysts, fluid collections and fetuses. The technology guides surgeons in determining the size and depth of tumors requiring removal.

Newer models have a wider variety of probes for detecting tumors at various depths and therefore can be used in more specialties. This machine will be used for general surgery, breast surgery, and brain/spinal surgery.

One of Bay County's premier social events, the annual Bay Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Charity Ball, promises to be a "Wonderful Night" for a great cause.

The DoubleTree Riverfront Hotel in Bay City will be the site of this year's48th Annual Charity Ball.

"This year's theme will bring the holiday spirit back to the Ball," said co-chairpersons Greg and Joan Polisuk.

The DoubleTree will also offer special room rates for the Charity Ball evening.

"We hope this year's Charity Ball will be a grand success, offering great food, drink, music, and an opportunity to be with friends,"said the Polisuks.

Sandy Meyer, Bay Regional Medical Center Auxiliary President, said: "The Charity Ball is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Bay Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. The spirit of the community and its involvement with the Ball enhance the true meaning of the ‘It's a Wonderful Night' theme for all patients in our area."

Charity Ball tickets are available at Bay Regional Medical Center Gift Shop, 1900 Columbus Avenue, or the DoubleTree. The evening's festivities include cocktails (cash bar) at 6 p.m.; dinner served at 7 p.m., and the ball, with music provided by "Nightline," from 9:30 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. Ball and dinner ticket prices are Patron couple and dinner $240; Couple and dinner $190; Single and dinner $95. (Ball-only ticket prices are $35 per person less).

Dinner includes a choice of New York Strip, Mediterranean Chicken, Crab-Stuffed Whitefish, or a vegetarian selection. Black tie invited. An exciting fundraising element for this year's Charity Ball is a 50/50 Sweepstakes, also to raise funds for the Interoperative Ultra Sound machine.

Suggested donations for sweepstakes tickets are $10 each or 12 for $100. The Sweepstakes drawing will be held at Midnight on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at the ball. For further information, call the Charity Ball Hotline 989-891-8100 or visit www.baymed.org.###
